Obama: We are no longer a Christian Nation

Barrack Obama said in a June 2007 speech, “Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation; at least not just.  We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, and a Buddhist nation, and Hindu nation, and a nation of non-believers.”

The United States of America is a country that was founded on God’s Word.  Yet, Obama said that the United States is no longer a Christian nation.  I would have to agree.

The United States is no longer the Christian nation that it once was.  The church in the United States used to have a big influence and impact on the culture.  However, what we see today is that prayer has been taken out of the schools, they have taken the 10 commandments down from many places, and we have legalized the murder of unborn children in the womb.

Over 50 million innocent, unborn children have been murdered in the United States alone since it was legalized in 1973.  50 million!  Hitler killed 6 million Jews in World War 2.  Over 50 million children have been murdered in what could be called the American Holocaust.

Each one of these issues is not the main problem.  They are symptoms of the problem.  The problem is that the church in the United States has compromised the clear teaching of their Bibles.  Instead of the church influencing the culture, what we now see is that the culture is influencing the church.

75% of children raised in Christian homes, who attend public schools, will walk away from the church after high school.[1]

Why is this?  Well, they are not being taught a biblical worldview at school.  In fact they are being taught that the Bible is not true.  Sadly, it is also true that children are not being taught a biblical worldview at church nor at home.  They are told that it is ok to believe what they are told in school, as long as they believe Jesus in the New Testament.

However, this simply does not work.  Jesus tells us in John 3:12 that, “If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?”  The Bible is more than just a book about spiritual and heavenly things.  It tells us about earthly things as well.

When the Bible says that God created everything about 6,000 years ago we should take that as truth.  When the Bible says that there was a worldwide flood about 4,400 years ago in which only 8 people survived, we should take that as truth.  When the Bible says that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ, we should take that as truth.

It is time that Christians, and the Church in the United States, came back to the authority of the Word of God.  It should be foundational to all of our thinking.  We should take a stand and proclaim God’s Word as truth: not man’s word.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:14.
